Ellie's Adoption Story.

Wow what a journey!

It started on November 19, 2005 when went to the “Spirit of Adoption” seminar at Berean Baptist Church in Burnsville.  We trust God's timing is perfect, but we never anticipated it would take so long.  It is surprising how fast things are moving now though!

To recap for you, our LID (log in date: when our extensive dossier arrived and was recognized by China as being in order) was July 5, 2006.  That is when we officially began waiting for our referral.  Initially, the wait was estimated to be about twelve months; but that was not meant to be.  This past November, 2008 we added the option for a waiting child, (children with special needs).  God was working on our hearts and brought a beautiful 5 ½ year old little girl into our lives.  Finally, in late January  2009, we got a  call that we had received our referral acceptance for this girl we will call Elisha (Ellie), who will now soon be coming home to her forever-family.  We are told that we may be going to China in March.  We now wait for America World to set up the travel plans and our application for Visas.

Every time we look at Ellie's pictures we are drawn to her and feel a strong connection to her.  We believe that God has guided us and brought Elisha into our lives.  We are looking forward to being parents and to be a blessing to her.  We are preparing her bedroom in order to take pictures and send her a package of things that will help her to understand and better adjust; she will probably be overwhelmed by the coming changes.  Please pray that as we meet her and bring her home that the transition will go well for her and that it will not be traumatic for her.

Ellie will face many new challenges.  Imagine a little Chinese girl being picked up by two big, strange, tall Caucasians who don't speak her language.  She is brought to a nearby hotel for a few days, (someplace  she  has never seen), then carried onto a plane and flown to a far away country which looks, smells and sounds so different. You just try to smile as crowds of strangers fuss over you in this funny language you cannot understand.  That is what she will be going through.  We pray and believe that God will be with us, guiding us, and we value your additional prayers.
