Chinese Lunch
My sister Janice is leaving for Shanghai on Wednesday to study ESL teaching. Saturday we met for lunch at my parents home and met her Chinese friend Linda, from Shanghai. Linda had grown up in Guangzhou, and was with her mother, who still lives there. It was a very enjoyable lunch, and I learned some new Mandarin phrases and customs. It reminded us of how hospitable the Chinese were to us when we were last there, and it was nice to reciprocate. They were very encouraging, and were able to give us an inkling of life in Ellie's hometown. We have an introduction card in Mandarin telling about who we are and what we are doing in China, and she was able to give us good feedback on it. It was reassuring to see that Janice will have such good friends in Shanghai.
