Consulate Appt.

We are happy to announce that we have received a Consulate appointment for April 7th  at 10:00am.  With this appointment set, we were able to make travel arrangements.  Our group will depart for China on March 26th  and will return home on April 9th , but we later learned that because we are not going to Bejing (we saw it in 2004) we will depart on March 28th for Guangzhou.

Interestingly, our paper work is still not 100% in order.  This seems a ridiculous bureaucratic mess, but our social worker has seen people that were fingerprinted the day they left, and still had all the proper forms arrive at the consulate in time for their appointment.  We were fingerprinted last month, but our revised I 171H is somewhere in transit between the USCIS, the NVC and the consulate.  It is not comforting that the government says we should allow 90 days for the transfer when we leave in two weeks!  Lisa is becoming very adept at navigating through the bureaucracy, but I have heard of couples adopting from Eastern Europe and Latin America who had to send one home, leave two overseas, and wait weeks or months for the bureaucratic dust to settle.

  2. Get your bags packed--We are so excited to hear this good news :-) It is truly amazing all the bureaucracy between the USCIS office and NVC. I was calling NVC 2 sometimes 3 times a day. They were sick of me by the time we had our Visa Interview through Eastern. Safe Travels and I will be looking forward to reading updates. God Bless! Todd, Christine and Benjamin Jorgensen
